Kate’s Club Receives Transformational Gift from the Chestnut Family Foundation
The $950,000 Gift Marks the Largest Single Donation to Date for the Grief Support Focused Nonprofit
Atlanta, G.A. (October 2, 2025) – Kate’s Club, a leading nonprofit supporting children, teens, young adults, and their families after the death of someone important to them, is honored to announce a generous multi-year gift from the Chestnut Family Foundation of $950,000. This marks the single largest gift in Kate’s Club history and will significantly help the organization expand its services to support more grieving young people and families in Atlanta and across the state of Georgia.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Chestnut Family Foundation for its generosity,” said Kate’s Club Executive Director Lisa Aman. “This gift will allow us to achieve our core strategic priority: provide the highest quality youth and young adult grief support programs, rooted in best practices, throughout the state of Georgia, and ultimately create a world in which it’s okay to grieve.”

The Chestnut Family Foundation was started by Teresa and Ben Chestnut, the co-founder and former CEO of global software company, MailChimp. The Foundation is committed to distributing philanthropic gifts to Georgia-based organizations that have demonstrated compassion and creativity in their efforts to improve the lives of children.
“Kate’s Club exemplifies the heart of the Chestnut Family Foundation’s purpose, which is to ensure children have access to resources that enable them to be healthy, develop self-confidence and enjoy life,” said Teresa Chestnut. “We are very proud to support the organization’s commitment to creating a community where youth can feel supported in their most difficult times.”
Kate’s Club has served more than 15,000 kids across the state of Georgia through its variety of initiatives, including clubhouse days, school-based programs, outings and camps. Each program is free of charge and is rooted in connection and community – ensuring every young person can navigate grief in a healthy, supportive way. Kate’s Club strengthens their confidence and resilience, benefiting not just the individual child but also their family, school and community.

About Kate’s Club
In 2003, Kate’s Club launched in Atlanta, GA with a gathering of six children for a social outing at a bowling alley and has matured into a dynamic, statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit that has helped more than 15,000 grieving children and teens, their families, and young adults understand how to cope with their grief and know they are not alone. Kate’s Club is a place where being separated from someone important to you can be connective. Where experiencing a death can mean entering a new chapter of life. And where missing someone can lead to feeling seen. In this club, grief is challenging but it’s also growth – an example of how every part of life can become a chance to have a positive experience if you’re supported and among a community. Our programs are guided by the National Alliance for Children's Grief's Standards of Practice.
